Welcome Zoomies! After this race, we will have completed one-fourth of this years circuit. We find ourselves in sunny and COLORFUL Miami, and the teams and drivers seem to be taking to the lifestyle, even playing some American football with the Miami Dolphins players (I am presuming non-contact!). I can report from reliable sources that Charles LeClerc won the field goal competition amongst his fellow drivers who participated (and immediately had any film of their attempts erased). Shall we move on to the buzz in the paddock? Paddock Buzz: Red Bull's diamond driver, Max Verstappen, missed media day (I am sure is was devastated-Max hates media day!), and is arriving late from his residence in Monaco because his gal is about to give birth SOON to his child! Verstappen Baby Watch is in full effect this weekend! We could get a gender reveal if Max hits a Williams car (blue) or an RB car (pink), so place your bets! Footnote: Max has been an awesome stepdad to his girlfriends young daughter, so he has the girl-dad experience!

Breaking: Formula One has announced that F1 Racing is going to be racing in Miami for the next 14 years!! That's a commitment!

UPDATE! It's a girl! Max and his baby mama Kelly welcomed little Lily into the world Thursday, and after making sure mother and child were fine, hopped on his private jet to Miami in time for P1 Friday!

First look of Max and Kelly with Lily:

Let the AWWWWS commence!

Speaking of colors, RB gear wear certainly took a page from the Barbie movie handbook:

Punishment for being demoted from the main Red Bull team, Liam?

Apparently Isack is discovering hazing IS a thing in F1 racing!

And questionable color design choices were not just limited to the drivers gear, as many fans are not happy with the Ferrari Miami 2025 livery either! oh, and the blue racing uniforms are back!

Ahh, corporate logo branding gone wild! How many pit stops will Ferrari make to refill those HP cartridges?

Our last fashion statement come from last year's Miami GP winner, his first Grand Prix win, Lando Norris, whose race strategy is to blind the other drivers with his disco ball helmet:

Lando loves the nightlife, he loves to boogie....

Also, a reminder that after Sir Lewis Hamilton finishes racing in Miami for Ferrari, he will be hopping on a private jet to New York, as he is one of the co-chair's of this years' Met Gala on Monday night! With that said, Lewis is my Driver Eye Candy of the Week!

You get the cover of Vogue, you are definitely a fashion icon, Lewis!

Onto the racing stuff! It's a Sprint weekend, so only one practice (P1)! First your driver grid lineup- switch Lawson and Tsunoda:

P1: 60 minutes. Cloudy, 80 degrees and humidity is high. It's a street race that basically circles the Hard Rock Stadium where the aforementioned Dolphins play. What is one way a drivers pit crew can annoy its driver? Lando radioing in a few minutes into practice that there was torch left in his car- he pits and tosses the offending item! Team fine coming to McLaren! Session ends with 4:35 minutes to go as Haas Ollie Bearman catches the curb on Turn 12 and does a 360 and gently crashes into the wall; he's okay, and the car is only slightly damaged. Onto Sprint Quali !

A note on how Qualifying works: There are three quick races to determine grid position for the GP race. First quali the last five drivers are cut, second quali again, last five drivers dropped, and 3rd and final quali determines the top ten on the grid and the ever important pole (1st) position. This also applies to the Sprint Qualis, you will just see me use SQ1 to show the difference.

SQ1: 12 minutes. No incidents, so bottom five are Bearman/Haas, Tsunoda/Red Bull, Doohan/ Alpine, Stroll/Aston-Martin and Bortoleto/Sauber.

SQ2: 10 minutes. No incidents, though Williams Carlos Sainz had a nasty lockup that had his lap time deleted. Bottom five then are: Sainz/Williams, Lawson/RB, Hulkenberg/Sauber, Gasly/Alpine and Ocon/Haas.

SQ3: 8 minutes. No incidents, so your top ten are (in reverse): Alonso/Aston-Martin, Hadjar/RB, Albon/Williams, Hamilton/Ferrari, LeClerc/Ferrari, Russell/Mercedes, Verstappen/Red Bull, Norris/McLaren, Piastri/McLaren, and in his first ever pole position of any race he has driven ( I know, he's just 18!) rookie driver Kimi Antonelli is the surprise pole position of tomorrow's Sprint Race! What an outing for the young lad! Kimi becomes the youngest driver EVER to start in pole position of an F1 race!

Oh, if Lewis only knew how the GP was going to go, he would not be smirking like this!

TEASER ALERT: Prepare for a hot, wet mess!

Miami Sprint: Top eight drivers gets points, from 1st= 8 points to 8th= 1 point. 80 degrees and 80% humidity to complete 19 laps for this Sprint. Weather is off and on rain, and we already have one car out that crashed going onto the track, which was Ferrari's Charles LeClerc. Drivers do the formation lap, and got one lap in before racing directors called a red flag, as on certain areas of a track there are small rivers, and the drivers themselves complained of poor visibility from the back-spray coming from the cars in front, calling it treacherous, with Oscar saying this is the worst visibility he has seen in all of his racing days!

The racing directors cleared up confusion, as it was TWO formation laps, so 19 laps it remains. Track has been dried up, but it is very slippery, so Intermediate tyres are the call for the teams. Red flag lifted, and formation laps kick out for the drivers. It's going to be a "standing start"which is basically how any race starts, this race just happens to be 3 laps of formation in, so due to fuel used, we know have a 18 lap race. Light Out and Piastri jumps ahead of of Antonelli, who falls to 4th, Lawson made a big leap up to 9th, as did Stroll who up to 11th. Lap 12 finds teams taking a gamble as some of them pit to change to either Medium or Soft tyres as the track is much drier; McLaren boys Oscar and Lando are still in the lead up front. Yellow flag comes up as Sainz, who had JUST switched to Medium tyres shreds both the wall and his new tyres; at the same time and Carlos day is done, as he drags his damaged car to the garage. Meanwhile, Antonelli and Verstappen pitted, but Max was too eager and collided with Kimi coming out of his pit stop in the pit lane- definitely a very clear definition of what the stewards refer to as an "unsafe release"! Both cars are able to go back on track. Max has been hit with a 10 second PENALTY for that action!

Lap 15 has drivers avoiding the debris from Carlos spinout at Turn 15, both McLaren boys pitted, Oscar first, then Lando, who got out just in time as Liam Lawson bumped Fernando Alonso's car, sending Fernando smashing into the wall (he's okay, car not so much), so MORE debris on the track for the final three laps! Safety Car out, as the cranes are out to remove Alonso's car, and there are only two laps. The safety car stayed out there till the end, which means the Shiny Disco Ball helmet of Lando Norris WINS the Miami Sprint, with teammate, Oscar Piastri in 2nd and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton in 3rd ( excellent strategy by Lewis early to switch to the faster tyres!). Max, with the 10 second penalty dropped to last place; Kimi dropped to 11th (a good learning experience for the rookie). Albon, Russell, Stroll, Lawson and Bearman round out the top eight, but Lawson may get slapped with a time penalty for that crash with Alonso, and he would drop back. Dang, I'm going to write what you readers might be thinking: That was a messy Sprint race! Only 3 hours till GP qualis for teams to get their damaged cars ready!

Update: Penalties abound post-Sprint that changes the bottom half, as Lawson, Bearman and Albon all got 5 second penalties for various infractions, so the top four stay the same. 5th was Stroll, 6th was Tsunoda, 7th was Antonelli, and last point for 8th was Gasly. Whew!

For those of you who need your Rocco fix! Both of them very young here!

GP Qualifying!

Q1: 18 minutes. Sunny, 80 degrees, so hot, but the humidity has dropped to only 60%. All damaged cars repaired. No incidents, so bottom five are: Bearman/Haas, Hulkenberg/Sauber, Gasly/Alpine, and both Aston-Martins, Stroll and Alonso will start in the back of the grid for Sunday's GP.

Q2: 15 minutes. No incidents, so next bottom five are: Lawson/RB, Doohan/Alpine, Bortoleto/Sauber, Hamilton/Ferrari (!!!), and Hadjar/RB.

Q3: 12 minutes. No incidents so your pole winner is Baby Daddy Max, followed by Lando, Kimi, Oscar, Georgie, Carlos, Alex, Charles, Esteban, and Yuki! (yeah, I went first names here!).

Miami GP: 57 laps, 19 corners. 3.3 miles per lap. It's overcast and dry at the start, but rain is in the forecast and it is very humid! and there COULD be lightning! Gasly got a penalty so he will start last from the pit lane. Drivers starting on Hard and Medium. LIGHTS OUT, and Max gets a hot start, Lando challenges, but goes wide, (was he shoved by Max?- stewards say no) and drops 3 places. Yellow flag as Lawson and Doohan bunch up, leaving Doohan with a punctured tyre and is out of this race on Turn 1! Safety car peels off, and Oscar overtakes Kimi for 2nd, and Lando overtakes Alex for 5th on the 4th lap, then overtakes Georgie on Lap 7, then overtakes Kimi on Lap 9, and is now in 3rd place. Max and Oscar within milliseconds of each other in the front. Lap 14 see Oscar overtake Max as Max went wide on turn 2, to take the lead. Lando now hunting down Max! Lap 17 sees Lando overtake Max , but Max takes 2nd place back as Lando gave the place back, as he overtook Max off the track. Lap 18, Lando overtakes Max legally this time for 2nd!

The rain is just starting to come down lightly, as Bortoleto pits to change to hard tyres. Hadjar and Stroll and Ocon pit to switch to Hard tyres. Kimi for Hards, as do Max and Alex, and Yuki. Lap 29 finds Ollie Bearman's engine croak, and is done for the day (DNF). Virtual Safety Car is out, both McLaren boys pit to Hard tyres. Georgie pits to switch Mediums, the Ferrari's also pit. And I'm done with tyre pit stops for the moment! Yuki gets a 5 second PENALTY for speeding in the pit lane. (Poor Ollie!)

. Lap 33 Virtual Safety Car (drivers must slow down to 40% ) is out as Bortoleto car also gives up the ghost, so that is three rookies with a DNF (Did Not Finish). Brilliant tag team overtake by the Ferrari's to pass Sainz' Williams car to move up on the grid in the top ten. Lap 39 finds Lewis is not happy with the Ferrari Pit wall, as he believes his Medium tyres are fresher than his teammate Charles, and after a couple of testy radio exchanges, Ferrari swaps the 2 drivers. RB retires Lawson's car on lap 42, as it could not survive that initial bump with Doohan in Lap 1. 4 rookies down, Kimi in 6th and Isack Hadjar in 11th as the two remaining rookies left.

Ten laps to go, and Lando is just 4.3 seconds behind Oscar, and the Ferrari's hunting down Kimi for 6th. Lap 52, Ferrari's swap positions, and Lewis is NOT happy! Georgie holding off Max for that 3rd podium spot.

Your Miami F1 Grand Prix 2025 champion is Oscar Piastri, his 3rd GP win in a row, and 4th out of the six races we've had this season. McLaren teammate, and last years Miami champion (and his first GP win) Lando Norris, finishing four seconds behind Oscar. It's the first time in 20+ years that a McLaren driver has won three GP's in a row! Mercedes George Russell rounds out the podium, his 4th podium this season, and is now five times he has finished in the top five!

An Oscar three-peat! and check our Georgie's Mercedes uni for the Miami race-colorful!

Notes: Yuki finished 5.1 seconds ahead of Isack for 10th, barely BARELY covering that 5-second penalty to hold on to tenth place and 1 point for Red Bull. Oscar did get the fan vote for Driver of the Day, though I would agree with my F1Threads mate Casper, who voted for Alex Albon! :)

The Williams Racing team had a good day, with both drivers finishing in the points! There may be trouble at House Ferrari, as Lewis Hamilton was NOT HAPPY with team strategy I wrote above about the switching and when to switch; he was quite spicy on team radio ("tea break, anyone?"). Would love to be a cicada on the wall for that Ferrari debrief! Nonetheless, Lewis hops on a private jet headed for New York as he is one of the co-chair's of Monday's Met Gala- I may have pix since I post the Zoom Zoom blog on Tuesdays!

As promised, I have Lewis Met Gala 2025 look- the theme: Black Male Excellence: "Dandyism", I think he looks quite dapper!

Zoomies!! I just found out that instead of the drivers riding around the track on a flatbed truck to wave to the fans (and gossip) pre-race, the teams had LEGO CARS to drive around the track- an actual battery operated1.5 ton Lego car for all 10 teams. It qquickly switched up to a "race", and dirty tricks employed, and the drivers acting like kids at an amusement park go-cart/bumper cars! I have shamelessly reposted some of the videos on my Threads account, will try to post one here, if not, it IS on my Facebook account. This MUST be an annual tradition for Miami GP each year! :) Here is a link to HOW these Lego cars were built in 8 months: https://www.wired.com/story/lego-formula-1-drivable-big-builds/?utm_source=threads&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=aud-dev&utm_brand=wired&utm_social-type=owned

So it has been six races, and the buzz before the season began is that if Alpine's Jack Doohan didn't show improvement, he would lose his seat. Jack did not show improvement today with his DNF. So, will Flavio Briatore pull the cord on Jack this week?

We get a week off before we hit the circuit for the first of two races in Italy! Ciao for now! Comments are open, and I have a ranked star system if you are word-shy! Late add-on! After the Met Gala, Lewis posted this thirst trap! <fans self>
