Grab Bag Goodies: French Open Finals, SF Giants, Spain Doubles Olympic Dream team, Belmont Stakes, and my fave Marvel post-credits scene!

SF Giants: San Francisco arrived at Arlington, Texas to play the Rangers, and Logan Webb started, went seven innings, 94 pitches, 2 runs, which held up because Wilmer Flores hit two solo shots, and Michael Conforto blasted a two-run shot as the offense did enough to secure a 5-2 victory and a win for Logan! Bullpen game on Saturday for the Giants, and they did quite well while Heliot Ramos continues to be "da man" as he drove in all three runs, including a 2 run home run, as the Giants played a very efficient game, winning 3-1 over the Rangers. Sunday's game not televised, and that may have been a good thing, as Giants lost to the Rangers, 7-2. Back home to Oracle Park.

The Houston Astros came to San Francisco to play the Giants, and starter Kyle Harrison had a strong outing, going seven innings, and just giving up one run. Game was tied at 1-1 going into the 10th where the Astros scored two runs, but the Giants staged an amazing comeback in the bottom of the 10th, scoring three runs, with Austin Slater being the hero with the walk-off hit to win the game! Tuesday game saw starter Jordan hicks only give up 3 runs in six innings. Sadly, theGiants got the same amount of hits (3) for the whole game, losing this one, 3-1.

Wednesday day game saw Logan Webb get some dang run support as the bats DID wake up by scoring five runs, with CF Austin Slater driving in three of them. Noted that the Giants bullpen only threw 26 pitches in the last three innings (zero runs), as the Giants take the series from the Astros with a 5-3 win! San Francisco prepares to welcome the Los Angeles Angels this weekend.

Tennis: Well, in the French Open women's final it only took #1 ranked Iga Switaek about 90 minutes to defeat Jessica Paulino to win the French Open for the 4th time in her career! Roland-Garros is from the ladies point of view, Iga's clay playground, and the rest of her opponents gonna have to step it up! Iga also has five straight Grand Slam wins dating back to 2023! Congrats, Iga!

In the men's final, Carlo Alcaraz becomes the first player since rod Laver did it in 1962 to go five sets in BOTH the semi's and finals to win his first men's French Open by beating Alexander Zvevev in 4 hours 20 minutes! Carlos also becomes the youngest player ever to win Grand Slams on clay, grass and hard courts! He will enter Monday ranked second behind Sinner in the tennis rankings! Congrats, Carlos! Two Gran Slams down, two to go! Wimbledon next up on the calendar.

Carlos with the French Open trophy!

Carlos after hitting the championship point- has red clay all over his shirt and shorts!

Horse racing: In the final leg of the Triple Crown of horse racing, the 156th running of the Belmont Stakes had great weather, but if you were picking favorites, not your betting day, as long shot Dornach (17-1) won the Belmont, with Mindframe (8-1), second, and heavy favorite, Sierra Leone (9-5) finishing third. Preakness winner Seize the Grey was 7th and Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan 8th out of a field of ten. I'm better with the four-wheel F1 racing than the four-legged horse races!

Locker Room Buzz: Just announced that Rafael Nadal will skip Wimbledon- dang! Great news is that he will be playing singles for Spain in the Olympics AND doubles with his biggest fan, Carlos Alcaraz! This justifies me in dropping another Carlitos thirst trap snap!

A boy chillin' with his first ever French Open trophy the day after!

A quick note that did not make it into the the Zoom Zoom blog: The McLaren F1 team is celebrating Pride Month with both drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri showing their support with these special stickers that will be in their cars for the month of June. Go Team Papaya! (Papaya due to their uniform colors!): You can learn more about the organization they are supporting thru www.racingpride.com

Finally, I leave you with my favorite post credits scene of ANY MCU/Marvel movie/TV show! This high camp, cheesy musical is giving me Peache Christ vibes if she had the budget for it. Even if you are not an MCU fan, but like musicals, this is FUN! If you are a MCU fan, the lyrics are hysterically bad! Enjoy the weekend! And Happy Daddy/Fathers Day!
