Since there was no F1 Zoom Zoom action this weekend, I decided to drop a bonus Grab Bag!
Warriors: In a scrappy game against a roster-depleted team in Portland, and with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green sitting out, the Dubs managed to pull off a 100-92 victory over the Trailblazers, despite being discombobulated on offense, out-rebounded and with16 turnovers! Warriors defense is what saved this game!
Back home at Chase Center, the New Orleans Pelicans came to play. And the Pelicans, who were down by 11 to the Dubs in the 1st quarter, found themselves down, 62-48 at the half due to ten 3-pointers by the Pelicans and nine turnovers by the Dubs and a 45-22 quarter Pelican advantage! All those three- pointers and the Dubs playing catch up led to a 114-109 loss. Last regular season game on Sunday against Utah at Chase. Sunday's game was the final game of the regular season and Golden State played solid basketball both offensively and defensively, as Curry and Green both sat out the game for rest and the play-in on Tuesday. By the 4th quarter, all starters were resting, as the bench got some serious minutes in and secured the Warriors 46th home victory of the season with a 123-116 victor over the Utah Jazz. Golden State plays the Kings in Sacramento on Tuesday for the sudden death play-in game. Win, move on, lose, go home. Bonus Eye Candy video! Anybody who knows the actor will get the intentional use of the word "bear" in the above headline, the multi-award winning series on FX/Hulu.
SF Giants: After the great last home game with getting hits and runs, San Francisco went to Florida to play the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and went back to cold bats and wasting another great starting pitching performance by Keenan Wynn, losing to the Rays, 2-1. Leaving nine runners left on base during the game did not help.
Next day, Logan Webb pitching, and the Giants bats went OFF! Five home runs, two by Thiaro Estrada, a 446 footer bomb by DH Jorge Soler, as the Giants pounded the Devil Rays, 11-2.
Sunday's game, with Blake Snell making his second start, and it went just as bad as his first start, giving up seven runs in four innings, and the Giants eventually went on to lose the game, 9-4. Off to Miami and the Marlins .
Golf: Well, it is the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, one of the premier golf courses in the world, and while Cal Berkeley's Collin Morikama gave it a run, but had two double-bogey's on the last round on Sunday, that allowed #1 ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler to win the coveted Green Jacket with a five stroke victory.
Tennis: It's clay court season in tennis, and Rafael Nadal just announced that he WILL play in the Barcelona tourney starting this week! Breaking: Rafa won his first match! Btw, Rafa has been around so long, and is so iconic, that this particular court is named after him! Soccer: I never thought I would be writing about this sport, but there has been a great underdog story that has popped up in the last several weeks from the Mission in San Francisco. A huge local favorite taqueria, El Farolito ( I can confirm the yummyness and hugeness of their burritos), apparently has also had a semi-pro soccer team, which has been coached by the owner of the taqueria for years. Well this year, in one of the many soccer tourneys that I have no idea about, but is a pretty important tourney, as amateur teams play semi-pro and pro soccer teams, the El Farolito team made headlines! The El Farolito Soccer team pulled off a major upset of a pro team a few weeks ago,
and then the following match El Farolito once again upset one of the heavy favorites to move on to the 3rd round this week! As I am unfamiliar with this sport, I am posting three links, two from Mission Local, and the third from SFist that better detail this local feel-good story! And if you are in the Mission, pop in to El Farolito and enjoy their meals , and give a
BUUUUUUUURITOOOOO" goal call to the staff! :)

Lastly, Dune 2 just dropped on several streaming services for rent or to own; three hours of my night sleep got bounced for immediate viewing! Breaking: Dune: Messiah, the third book, has been green-lit to begin filming, with a target release date of late 2025!
