F1: I know I have a separate F1 Zoom Zoom column, but right after I posted the China GP recap, huge breaking news came out of F1, and since Japan GP is almost 2 weeks away, mights as well drop the breaking news here first! Red Bull has, after just TWO races, have switched driver seats tween the main Red Bull team and the junior VRB team. Liam Lawson has been returned to his original VRB seat, while Yuki Tsunoda has been bumped up to the Red Bull car next to Max Verstappen, the dreaded Max Red Bull second seat (Red Bull has now put SIX drivers in that seat over the last few years!). Most F1 fans thought this is what should've happened before the season began, but after two poor performances, the higher ups have made the switch to put Yuki in that seat. I'll have all the piping hot tea in the next Zoom Zoom column after the Japan GP in a couple of weeks!

SF Giants: After securing the best Spring Training record in all the leagues, but also losing one of our prominent players, Jehar Encarnacion to a broken hand (this is why I was being vague in my previous posts about the Giants spring training...there had been no injuries up till last weekend!), the 2025 Major League Baseball season kicked off with a come from behind 6-4 Giants win over the Cincinnati Reds! Logan Webb started, and was a bit rocky, giving up three runs in five innings, and the Giants trailed 3-0 until Heliot Ramos hit the first Giants home run of the season, to make the score, 3-2, Reds. It wasn't into the 9th inning when the Giants put up a rally that resulted in Wilmer Flores cracking a 3-run home run to left field to give the Giants a 6-3 lead. Closer Ryan Walker came on in the bottom of the 9th to close out the game, gave up a run, but secured the final out to send the Reds cans home grumbling, and Giants fans cheering! it's also the first time in Giants franchise history that the Giants won on a come from behind game on the road in the 9th inning! Overall, a nice birthday present for Assistant GM, Buster Posey! Below is a handy-dandy Opening Day lineup. Big surprise was Moss getting the last bench spot over Wisely!

Golden State Warriors: Argh- at the most critical time, the Dubs on this seven game road trip have dropped the first two games against opponents they should have easily beaten, even without aan injured Steph Curry! And I just got late-breaking news that Gary Payton has a ligament injury in his left thumb, and will be evaluated next week! With about ten games to go, the Warriors are truly fighting to stay in the top six playoff spot, much less the playoffs themselves!
March Madness: The NCAA basketball tourney has been shaved down from 68 teams to what's referred to as the "Sweet Sixteen", with four teams playing to advance on at Chase Center here in SF this weekend. So far, my picks for the final two are still in the hunt, Duke and Michigan State, who are NOT playing at Chase! Gotta give props to the Florida coach, who earlier in his career wasthe coach for USF (University of San Francisco) Dons, as he took the team and staff to an original San Francisco landmark restaurant when they arrived in the Bay Area earlier this week- can't go wrong with a meal at Original Joe's! Psst: both Florida and Duke won, and are in the Elite Eight!

In Other News: Rarely do we cover anything politics, but Florida just can't help itself. With the loss of legal immigrants either being arrested or deported or vanished or fleeing the state, Florida has proposed legislation to fill that labor shortage with.....children. More info in the link below:
With 23 and Me filing for bankruptcy, folks have been having trouble accessing their account so they can delete their DNA profiles before it is sold to another company and that DNA info is in the hands oof who know what doing gosh knows what with that DNA. Hopefully it won't go the route that it did at this research lab! (yup, the cute mice again!) :
Things are going to get more frustrating for the citizens of Texas. I'm not talking about the real problems the state is going thru with the measles outbreak, but now things have gotten more difficult in the "pervert aisle" at Target, Walmart and other fine retailers who sell "adult pleasure items". I have a voice in my head when it comes to the government of Texas that screams "dumb-ass priorities", amongst other things about Texas!

Let'a close on a positive note! The High Court of Osaka Japan has ruled that the banning of same-sex marriages is unconstitutional, joining several other major Japanese cities in that opinion. More work needs to be done for the country of Japan to allow same-sex marriages, but this is another step in that direction. https://www.jurist.org/news/2025/03/japan-osaka-court-holds-same-sex-marriage-ban-unconstitutional/
Have a great weekend, and claw back your DNA before it gets Jurassic Parked! :)
