Welcome back! The leaves are turning and the temperatures are dropping, which can only mean one thing: NBA season is upon us! Also, a reminder, if you haven't voted already, you have a few more days before Tuesday, Nov 5th! We don't do politics here, but I will say I prefer a joyful warrior to a deranged hate-monger. (that's me keeping it simple!) Onto the sportsball recaps and weird stuff!
College Football: Cal don't get their own listing after ripping our hearts out by losing four games by a combined total of nine points! Cal did take a 31-0 over the Beavers of Oregon State after the first half, so that was a good sign. Finally, Cal wins a game in a blowout, as the Bears offense goes over 500 yards in offense, with Fernando Mendoza throwing for almost 400 yards and two touchdowns, and California stuffs the Beavers, 44-9. Meanwhile, the game I had my eye on turned into a blowout as #12 Notre Dame demolished #24 (and soon to be knocked out of the top 25) Navy, 51-14! Navy did NOT help cause by coughing up SIX turnovers, leading to 27 Fighting Irish points!
The other big game took place in front of 103,000 fans in College Station, Texas as the #14th Texas A&M Aggies hosted #8th ranked LSU. LSU had control of this game in the first half, but they switched Quarterbacks, and he lit up the LSU defense, scoring three running touchdowns and just baffling the Tigers defense; the Aggies outscored the Tigers 31-6 in the second half on their way to a 38-23 victory!
And some notes on the updated AP rankings: the Aggies jumped to #10th, while LSU dropped to #16th, Notre Dame jumped back into the top ten at #8th, Miami jumped over Texas (who barely won their game for #5th, and the Ducks are still number one! #16 Pittsburgh Panthers take on #20 SMU in a big ACC game of the week, and the biggie of the weekend: #4 Ohio State vs #3 Penn State in Happy Valley!
Golden State Warriors: The Dubs won their second game in dominating fashion again, beating the Utah Jazz, 127-86. The home opener at Chase Center against the LA Clippers was electric with the fans ready to rock! The game was competitive, with Andrew Wiggins going off for 29 points for the Dubs, but halfway thru the 4th quarter, Steph Curry had to leave teh game with a sprained ankle (TBD of the seriousness of the injury) and the five players who finished the last few minutes of the game only scored two points, as the Dubs lost their home opener to the Clippers, 112-104. 21 turnovers did not help the Dubs cause.
UPDATE: Curry does in fact, have a mild ankle sprain, and will miss the two Pelican back-to back games this week. Lets hope thats the extent of the missed time.
Minus Curry, the Warriors won BOTH their back to back home games against the New Orleans Pelicans, so one test passed!
San Francisco 49ers: Big game at Levi's against the hated Dallas Cowboys for Sunday Night Football! It's a breezy evening, temperature at 68 degrees in Santa Clara, and skies are clear, and stadium is rockin' for this rivalry! Lets try highlights and other notables:
First quarter: QB Brock Purdy finds a pneumonia-free WE Deebo Samuel for a 47 yard strike. Niners end up with a Anders Carlson 50 yard field goal! Niners 3 Cowboys 0 1st Q. Safety J'air Brown intercepts Dallas QB Dak Prescott at the 5 yard line at 4:27 1st Q. End 1st quarter; 3-0 Niners. Second quarter: Dallas TD on 11 plays 65 yards, 6:35. Dallas 7 San Francisco 3, start of 2nd quarter.
70 yard TD from Purdy to Deebo erased due to a holding call on Niners- AARH! Dallas has to settle for a short field goal after Niners defense prevented the Cowboys from
getting into the end zone with some great defense. Dallas 10 San Francisco 3 , 2:56 2nd Q.
Backup RB Issac Guerendo basically owned the next Niners drive, but a Kittle holding penalty stalled the drive, and the 49ers settled for a field goal. Cowboys 10 Niners 6, 1:30 2nd quarter. Dallas defense steps up, and prevents the Niners from putting any points on the board, so we go to halftime, Cowboys 10 Niners 6. Penalties killed 80 yards of offense and a touchdown! Third quarter: Niners get the ball to start. A Purdy scramble and then Purdy drops a short pass to TE George Kittle for a 44 yard run to the 4 yard line, and on the next play, Guerendo bulls in for his first NFL touchdown! Five plays, 60 yards, 2:03 on that opening drive! Niners 13 Cowboys 10 3rd Q.
On the next drive, Prescott trows his second interception to Dominick Lenoir to give the Niners great field position. Seven plays, 32 yard ( a Purdy scramble helped!) 4:16 TOP (time of possession has Purdy dropping a beauty to Kittle for a Niner touchdown! Niners 20 Cowboys 10, mid 3rd quarter! A team effort as Kittle, Deebo, Guerendo and Purdy go nine plays, 75 yards in 5:33 that ends with a Purdy QB sneak for the touchdown! Niners 27 Cowboys 10 end of 3rd quarter! Oh, with Kittle's catch on this drive, he now is the 5th Niner to have 500 receptions for the team!
A most deserved Eye Candy for George Kittle!
Fourth quarter: A good solid drive by Dallas ends with Prescott throwing to a wide open WR CeeDee Lamb for Cowboys touchdown. Niners 27 Cowboys 17 mid fourth quarter. Niners come back and march downfield, with a Ricky Pearsall 39 yard run to set up a 41 yard field goal, 30-17 Niners with 4:25 left. In less than a minute, Prescott leads the Cowboys to a TD to Lamb in less than a minute! Niners 30 Cowboys 24 with 3:32 left! Deebo with a a rib injury, btw <sigh>. Niners 3 and out, Dallas with the ball with 3:15 to go. Niners defense steps up big time, as Dallas fails to convert on four tries, and San Francisco gets the ball on downs with 2:43 left! Niners get their first down, thanks to Guerendo running and sliding at the 2 yard line, and not take the TD to burn the clock, and the San Francisco 49ers defeat the Dallas Cowboys 30-24, making me a very happy 49ers fan! On National Tight End Day, TE George Kittle, the founder of Tight End Camp, had 128 yards and a touchdown- nicely done, George! The bye week is upon us, so no 49er game next weekend! Heal well, Niners!
Baseball: Freddie Freeman was named the World Series MVP as the LA Dodgers won the WOrld Series over the NY Yankees, 3-1.
Non- Sportball Stuff!
You made it thru the sports stuff, well done! But THIS link is what you really came for! One word in my headline above is not true, but it got you here, didn't it? :) Just keep this in mind when you go swimming with the dolphins; you may find yourself asking" Is that your dolphin nose, or are you horny for me?"
https://metro.co.uk/2024/10/19/man-almost-killed-sexually-frustrated-dolphin-japan-21826366/ Okay, dolphin lovers ( the consenting kind!), you know what you need to do! a couple pounds of albacore, some soothing background music, some fishy aromas, etc. Just don't come back till those dolphins are "satisfied"! I did the research so you didn't have to, but if you want to see more than what I posted here for scientific reasons ( please, you know you can find me sweeping the floors at the 7th circle of hell for this!), subscribe to "Only Fins"!
I have to credit Stephen Colbert for that zinger!). Our aquatic mammal sexcapades (Eff U, spell-check!) aren't done! Just recently, a group of whales in Southern Australia were seen gathering and partaking in what marine biologists (reluctantly) refer to as a "whale orgy" mating frenzy! Link to the story: https://www.vice.com/en/article/whale-orgy-spotted-off-the-southern-coast-of-australia/ And this 2 minute video, (sounds about right-2 minutes, 3, he's a keeper!) I found is umm, somewhat illustrative video of said mating frenzy!
And then we have this little ditty from Australia about a cockatoo that was "rescued" from a supermarket after four weeks of being beak-deep in brioche. "Mickey" was probably like, "FU, I was in brioche heaven, till you bastards came and "rescued" me!". I personally, stand with Mickey's point of view!
And before i post the link (with a very short video embedded), at this point, I gotta ask, What the EFF is going on with the animals Down Under (or with the previous two stories , the down low) in Australia?????

I'm going to wrap with something not weird, or sporty, but with a couple of clips of Nicole Scherzinger, currently starring as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard on Broadway. Nicole has gotten such great reviews, tickets now worth TWO first-borns and a one bedroom in the Upper West Side! I have a teaser clip, from Sunset, plus a clip of when she was in Phantom of the Opera on the West End theater district in London, 12 years ago!! I'm calling it now: Not only will Nicole be nominated, but will probably win a Tony for this role! Enjoy!
My work is done here! Enjoy the weekend, and Vote- it's your right! Oh wait! I have some left-over Ye-Hao Halloween Eye Candy! Enjoy!
