As the 49ers prepare to play their last regular season game today against the Los Angeles Rams, some 49er players got good news this week.
Between fan votes and player votes, it was announced this week that NINE San Francisco 49er players were chosen to participate in the 2024 Pro Bowl, which occurs a week before the Super Bowl. In addition, twelve 49ers were selected as alternates. This was one of the highest number of selections in Pro Bowl history.
Quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Christian McCaffrey, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, tight end George Kittle, offensive tackle Trent Williams, defensive end Nick Bosa, linebacker Fred Warner and cornerback Charvarius Ward were selected as starters and defensive lineman Javon Hargrave as a backup. Quarterback Brock Purdy, who got the most votes of any one player, and also is the first quarterback 49er rookie be selected for the Pro Bowl in almost two decades. Making history for fullbacks selected, Fullback Juszczyk was named to participate in his eighth Pro Bowl. In addition, WR Brandon Aiyuk, DL Arik Armstead, OL Aaron Banks, OL Jake Brendel, LB Oren Burks, LB Dre Greenlaw, CB Deommodore Lenoir, OL Colton McKivitz, LS Taybor Pepper, WR Deebo Samuel, P Mitch Wishnowsky and DL Chase Young were selected as alternates. The team's nine selections mark the most in the NFL and the most the team has had since nine players were selected to the 2013 Pro Bowl.

Notable starter snubs: WR Deebo Samuel and WR Brandon Aiyuk. While it makes some sense Deebo didn't make the cut, due to missing a few games, the Aiyuk snub was rather glaring, considering the season he has had, with a stat line that reads 72 receptions, 1,317 receiving yards with seven touchdowns. While it is nice to be recognized for your talents on the field as some of the most athletic players in the NFL, the 49ers players say thank you (especially for those players that get bonuses for being a Pro Bowl selection!) , but we have our sights on winning another bowl the following week in Las Vegas on February 5th. :)
