Welcome! I survived and had a great time during Fleet Week here in San Francisco! It was a pretty straight-forward week in the Sportsball arena/field, so I decided to add a couple of oddities at the end , and of course, the required eye candy!
California Golden Bears: Over 100 yards in penalties, Cal QB Fernando Mendoza sacked six times, missed kicks, a very questionable early 2-point try that failed, all combined along with a tough Panthers defense, leads to a 17-15 loss in Pittsburgh. Panthers now 6-0, first time since 1982, while Cal falls to 3-3, and 0-2 in the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference). Next up is the North Carolina State Wolfpack at Berkeley this weekend- an almost must-win game for the Bears! This Wolfpack team is a team Cal should be able to defeat, especially if the Bears clean up all the mistakes I mentioned above! Oh Gary, the Panthers are now ranked 20th in the AL poll! :)
Isn't Cal QB Mendoza adorable? And he does a lot of charity work here in the Bay Area!
In other college football news, the big classic Red River rivalry (100 years old!) between #1 Texas Longhorns and #16 Oklahoma Sooners turned into a Texas stomping, with the Longhorns winning 34-3, and holding on the the #1 spot. The big game of the week was between #2 Ohio State Buckeyes and #3 Oregon Ducks, with the Ducks winning a nail-biter, 32-31, and becoming the new #2 team in the nation as the Buckeyes dropped to 4th place. Penn State rose to third place with a thrilling 33-30 win over USC in overtime (I bet USC is missing the now defunct Pac-12!). The upset game of the week was the LSU Tigers beating Ole Miss Rebels, resulting in LSU rising to #8 and Ole Miss falling to 18th, a BRUTAL ten place drop! Finally, both Army and Navy finished the weekend with undefeated records, both are now in the AP top 25, the first time that has happened since 1945! Wave that American flag!
Oh! The two games to watch this weekend will be Texas taking on #5 Georgia and #7 Alabama visiting Tennessee to take on the #11 Volunteers...I expect more rankings shuffling next week!
San Francisco 49ers: In what was almost a must-win game for the Niners, it was a trio of rookies that helped out QB Brock Purdy and the other Niner stars secure a 36-24 win in Seattle over the Seahags....errr Seahawks! Sure, we had Purdy drop dimes to Deebo Samuel for a 76 yard touchdown, TE George Kittle with TWO touchdown catches, Purdy with three TD's thrown, and racked up 255 passing yards. However it was the rookies who shined on both sides of the ball, with Renaldo Green and Malik Mustapha snagging interceptions thrown by Seahawks QB Geno Smith, and rookie running back Issac Guerendo broke for a 76 yard run and smartly falling at the two yard line to selflessly deny his first NFL TD so the Niners could burn out the game clock to secure the victory, as fullback Kyle Juszczyk (a spelling nightmare!) scored the final TD! 483 total offensive yards for the 49ers-wow!
Injury report looked bad after the game, but as of this posting, running back Jordan Mason SHOULD be ready to go this Sunday, and our new kicker, Matthew Wright, who, like our main kicker, Jake Moody, made a tackle on a kickoff return and sprained his shoulder, is feeling much better and a go for Sunday's BIG game , a regular season Super Bowl rematch against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs at Levi's! Oh, and expect a big roar from the fans when rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who was shot earlier this year in downtown San Francisco, take the field this Sunday!
I was looking for some nice Kyle #juice# EYE CANDY, and accidentally found this one, that got a gay gasp, me grabbing the smelling salts, and fan me reaction! Prepare yourself! (I wasn't ready!) UPDATE! I errored (what happens when you come across a pic like this!) , this is not Juice, but y'all favorite, Nick Bosa! Thanks Veronica, for very discreetly pointing it out!) It's the chain Bosa wears that slapped me out of my stupor!
Bosa makes breathing HARD! ! I needed a smoke after this pic! (20 minute "break" later)
Formula One: Since F1 is such a diva, and MUST be noticed, even while on break, this news item came across my eyes, and it has a bit of a gay bent to it!
Sir Lewis Hamilton, of Mercedes and then Ferrari in 2025, fashionista that he is, has been named by Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, as one of the co-chairs of the Met Gala in 2025! It will be the first time in the history of the Gala that all the co-chairs are black men.
For more details of the event, including who is also on the committee, and the Gala theme, check out this article below to get in the know!

Tennis: The time has arrived. Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has officially announced his retirement, with his last match play being the Davis Cup tourney that starts Nov 19th in Malaga, Spain (that location may change-will update when we get closer). Currently, in what I refer to as a "big money" tourney being played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the next match up is Rafa against his fellow Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, in what could be their final match against each other on court. I'm hoping before I hit PUBLISH, I will have the results of that match. UPDATE, Carlos defeated Rafa in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, and will face off in the final against (wait for it), Jannik Sinner....again...for the tourney trophy and a big bag of cash!
sniffles!
Check out Rafa's career stats! A legend, indeed!
Oddities: After a hard day at work or exams, or if you are the Dallas Cowboys (shade alert!), Most of us can identify with this monkey:
Finally, it's mating season for tarantula's in Colorado! And if thought I was gonna post some spider porn, you don't know me! Instead, you can read all about it and get your science kink on in the link below! I will say the male tarantula has a rough life...searching endlessly for months to find a female to mate with, and then getting the hell out of there before she kills him and lays her eggs in his body! What would the U.S. Supreme Court think of THIS!?! https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/oct/03/tarantula-mating-season-colorado
If you, like me, were somewhat traumatized by the arachnid freak-off, just scroll back up and linger over Bosa's pic for a while...it's therapeutic! :) Have a great weekend, and Go Niners, Go Cal ! :)
