Warriors Weekly Round up: March 1st- 7th

Updated: Mar 9

After a delayed plane trip from New York City to Toronto, arriving at 8 am local time, and for the second of a back-to- back game set, the Dubs were playing once again without Andrew Wiggins and also Brandin Podziemski (knee soreness). Both teams played pretty evenly, with the Dubs having an advantage of Steph Curry dropping 3-pointers, and were only down 64-61 at the half. A 32-19 third quarter helped give the Warriors a 93-83 lead. Both teams played even on offense, but the Dubs defense was owning the 2nd half, as Golden State defeats the Raptors, 120-115, for their eighth straight road game, and 13-3 in their last 16 games! Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, Chris Paul, Mose Moody and Klay Thompson all in double figures. Now on to Boston to play the best team in the NBA to finish this four game road trip. In Boston against the Celtics, Golden State had the worst first half of a game in a long time, down 82-38 at halftime. Field goal percentage was 60% to 38%, 62% to 17.5% both favoring the Celtics, and a Celtics advantage on rebounds at 28-18, and no Dubs player broke double digits in scoring. Jayson Tatum was on fire in the first half, with 22 points, and Jaylen Brown at 25 points for the Celtics. Coach Kerr had seen enough, and for the 2nd half, rested all his starters and let the bench players finish out the game, with the final score tallying up at Boston 140 Golden State 88. Even with the ugly, ugly loss, the Dubs finished 3-1 on this road trip, as they fly back home to take on the 2nd best team in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks, on Wednesday.

Well, that is one way to blow off a stinker of a game! The Milwaukee Bucks came to Chase Center as one of the top teams in the NBA. Golden State entered the game with a full, healthy roster since November with Andrew Wiggins return. The Dubs had 40 points in the first quarter and tallied up 78 points by halftime, before eventually stomping on the Bucks with a 125-90 victory! Steph Curry was firing on all cylinders, scoring 29 points, with Jonathan Kuminga racking up 20 and going into beast mode on defense, blocking shots, and also slicing up the Bucks offense in the paint where he got most of his points. Kuminga even attempted, and made two 3-pointers! Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis dropped 18 points and made a highlight reel DOUBLE BLOCK on Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo then got the dunk on the other end of the play! A very good "get right" night for the Dubs!

I did not see the next night's game against the Chicago Bulls, and am glad I missed it. Kevon Looney's consecutive games played in ended, and Steph Curry rolled his ankle and left the game, and it is unknown how many of the 21 games remaining he will miss. Oh, and the Warriors lost, 125-122. Let's just hope Curry's injury is mild and he will be back on court soon. UPDATE: Curry's MRI imaging came back clean, no structural damage, should only miss a few games!
